Hi, I'm Sophie
I work as a project manager, am a parent, and live abroad in Zurich, Switzerland.
Several years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Switzerland wasn’t part of the grand plan. As with many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The opening months were demanding — new processes, new routines, new expectations. Daily chores felt more challenging than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found spots that fit our needs, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built River Bend Works
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Switzerland.
